With the Kärnten Card you really have Carinthia under your belt

Anyone arriving at our holiday and horse lodge in Carinthia for the first time will immediately feel it: this is where you'll find peace. Amidst the meadows, the mountains, and the gentle whinny of our horses, the holiday feeling comes naturally.

As mentioned earlier, many of our guests continue on to overcrowded Croatia. This is a real shame, because there's so much to experience in our region! What many travelers don't immediately realize is how much there is to discover beyond our borders, and that's where the Kärnten Card comes in.

The Kärnten Card is the golden key to over a hundred adventures and activities in the region, without having to pay admission every time. Think mountain lifts, gorges, adventure parks, climbing parks, viewpoints, boat trips, zoos, and museums. For a week, you pay just €66 for an adult and €35 for a child. Do you have children under six? They often travel free. You can buy the card at various points of sale or online, and it's valid from the moment of purchase. You can choose from one, two, or five weeks.

We're die-hard fans of the Kärnten Card. We've used it frequently over the past few years, and a general weekly schedule looks like this:

Day 1:

On day one, we took the cable car to the top of the Gerlitzen Alpe (see our summer information page for the Gerlitzen Alpe), where we enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and Lake Ossiach. The children were free to play in the mountain scenery and go tubing at the Kanzelhöhe (middle station), while we enjoyed a refreshing drink in the sun.

Day 2:

This was the day we went exploring one of the lakes. Boat trips on the lakes (Millstättersee, Wörtersee, and Ossiachersee) are included in the ticket. Afterward, we enjoyed the sun, swam, and cooled off at the Ossiachersee beach.

Day 3:

The next day we set off for Maltatal. In the morning, we started with a drive to the high-altitude reservoir (the toll is free with the Kärnten Card), and in the afternoon we went on our top excursion: the exciting 3D archery course. The joy of shooting together, laughing at misses and cheering on hits—it's one of our favorite excursions, and one we return to regularly.

Day 4:

One rainy day, we decided to drive to Klagenfurt. There, the kids could jump around at the "Jumpdome" trampoline park. Afterward, we visited Reptilienzoo Happ and finished the day at the Planetarium. All these fantastic excursions are fully included in the ticket!

Day 5:

For a day without your Kärnten Card, instead, you can enjoy a wonderful visit to the Laghi di Fusine in Italy. Here you can take a beautiful walk, paddle in the water (or, for the die-hards, swim 😉), and stop for a delicious scoop of ice cream along the way.

Day 6:

On day six, we had free entry to the Raggaschlucht and enjoyed a beautiful hike there. It's an impressive gorge with wooden bridges, waterfalls, and steep rock faces. These are unique natural experiences waiting to be discovered.

At the end of the afternoon, delicious cold drinks awaited us at one of the picnic benches, a trampoline, and a refreshing dip in the pool. The contrast between the adventurous daytime outings and the calm evenings created a perfect balance.

A great holiday, right?!

Isn't that a fantastic week? And we haven't even mentioned all the other activities you can enjoy with the card. Think footgolf, various tree-climbing courses, the pyramid ball, zoos, museums, and caves.

And that's exactly what we emphasize to our guests. Because with the Kärnten Card, staying longer is truly worthwhile. For five weeks, you pay just €89 per adult. The weekly price drops significantly, while you retain the freedom to explore spontaneously.

Our holiday home and horse lodge is more than just a place to sleep. It's a place to slow down, connect with each other and with nature. If you can combine that with mountain peaks, gorges, swimming, and sports and games (rafting or canyoning), then you've (in our opinion 😉) found the perfect holiday balance.
