Winter is coming!

From autumn to winter in Carinthia. Here is our blog about the first snow, the upcoming coziness and new outlooks!

The autumn is slowly giving way to winter for us in Carinthia. The trees in the valley still bear their last golden leaves, while high in the mountains the first snowflakes have already fallen. It is that special moment when nature changes color and the fresh mountain air foreshadows the upcoming winter season!

In the valley, pleasant temperatures still prevail. It's perfect for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the view. But those looking up see that the mountains are already getting ready for winter. The ski areas are preparing for their opening. The snow cannons are ready, lifts are being tested, slopes are groomed and awaiting their white winter blanket. In short, the pre‑fun has begun…

Even in the surroundings, the festive spirit slowly starts to stir and come alive. The Christmas markets in Villach (opening 14 November) and Velden am Wörthersee (opening 21 November) are among the most beautiful in Austria. Cozy stalls filled with delicacies, sparkling lights, warm punch and drinks. There, the typical Austrian Gemütlichkeit comes to life. Visiting these markets is a must‑see, if you have the opportunity, to soak up the atmosphere.

Here at the Ferien- & Pferdegut, it's also a busy time. We are busy preparing our apartments for the winter season (and ahead, also a bit for the summer season 😉). We are working on the final details that bring that extra touch of comfort and coziness. All apartments have been expanded with permanent sleeping areas, have been painted and given a cozy decoration.

To be able to offer these extra sleeping areas, the coming weeks are exciting. Bernadette is finishing her course with an exam. There is a bit of pressure, because only then can we fully open, so please keep us in your thoughts?

We are confident this will work out. After that we can also fully update the site!
