The interim balance after four weeks...

The interim report: Four weeks at the Ferien- und Pferdegut

Hard to believe, but we have already been on the road for four weeks since our emigration to our Ferien- und Pferdegut in Treffen.

What a rollercoaster it's been! We started this adventure full of anticipation, and reality has quickly set in. Sometimes with a smile, sometimes with a deep sigh, but mostly with visits to the enormous bureaucracy in Austria 😊.

We've been through quite a bit in this short time. Reality proves to be a little more stubborn than the dream. We already knew that things wouldn't always go smoothly. A clogged drain here, a forgotten chore there... But the most memorable thing of the past four weeks was the death of one of the boarding horses. We literally had to pull a dead horse to get it out of its stall. A moment that stays with you and immediately brings home the reality for you as a stable owner.

Fortunately, there have also been so many positive experiences. We've already welcomed so many wonderful, dear guests. People who are enthusiastic about what we're building, who follow our story, empathize with us, and even already say: " We'll definitely be back !" Some are actually putting their money where their mouth is and booking directly for the summer of 2026! That makes us incredibly happy and shows we're on the right track (a nice metaphor for Austria 😉). Yet, we're surprised that so many people see this as just a stopover. We're close to so many attractions, adventures, and sights. Fortunately, our prospect wall (made by Bernadette herself) displays the many activities.

After four intense weeks, we're slowly starting to feel a little more space. Space not just to do things, but also to enjoy ourselves every now and then. To pause for a moment and reflect on where we are, both literally and figuratively. We're here in beautiful surroundings, with a dream slowly taking shape. We deserve to enjoy that together sometimes. A barbecue, a nice drink, and a dip in the lake certainly contribute to that!

We're slowly starting to look ahead to next year. Just like at school, you determine the priorities for the school year at the start of the year. In our work meeting (between manager and supervisor), we discussed our goal of offering longer stays. We've noticed a demand for this, and our apartments offer this option. Another bonus is that we really enjoy getting to know our guests personally.

To achieve this, we want to expand our apartments with "real" beds instead of sofa beds. This will offer more comfort, more hospitality, and hopefully, more returning guests who choose to stay longer. With the first bookings for summer 2026, this approach certainly offers prospects!

The interim result ? It's tough starting during peak season, but we're growing every day... in our routine, experience, and planning. Our guests are grateful, and construction has already begun and is well underway. The foundation has been laid, and we're steadily building! Want to stay updated on our activities daily?
