Water days worth getting out of bed for!

When the sun is shining, water becomes your best friend. The Ossiacher See is a top lake for active days: you can swim, chill by the shore, and experience the lake in more ways than just "plain" beach time. Moreover, it is the third-largest lake in Carinthia and is known for its summer swimming temperatures and excellent water quality.

Then there's the Faaker See: that turquoise color is almost unbelievable. Perfect for a relaxed afternoon of swimming and sunbathing, or to cool off after an active day in the mountains. Rent a boat and let your teenagers navigate; suddenly everyone is involved, and it creates lasting vacation memories. Don't forget to plan a day of canyoning (Slovenia has a great one to try!) or rafting!

Highlights that make an impression: Pyramidenkogel

Some places are so photogenic that even teenagers spontaneously grab their phones. The Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel is one of those places. This viewpoint is known as one of Carinthia's most beautiful panorama spots, and with the Kärnten Card, you have free access once a day. The best part is: you can make the visit as active or relaxed as you like. Those who want a workout take the stairs, while others take the lift to get to the top quickly. If they're feeling adventurous, they can even abseil down. On the way back, it's also worth stopping at the tree climbing course (also free with the KärntenCard!).

Snow in summer: the Mölltaler Gletscher

Want to really surprise your teenagers? Take them to the Mölltaler Gletscher. The feeling of going from summer warmth to a high alpine world in just one day will stay with them. Even the ride there is an experience, as you take the Gletscherexpress (one of the longer funiculars) into the mountains. 3D archery in the Maltatal: Robin Hood moments for all

Something new and challenging with a surprisingly competitive effect? 3D archery in the Maltatal is exactly that. You walk through the forest and shoot at realistic 3D targets, as if you've entered a game world. The course is approximately 1,200 meters long and runs through a relatively flat forest area, making it accessible to various ages and levels. With the Kärnten Card, one visit per day is included, including equipment rental and instruction. This makes it a perfect "half-day activity": active, fun, and you have something to talk about at the dinner table.

Climbing course in Greifenburg

Looking for some height, speed, and a cool activity? You'll find it in Greifenburg: there you combine a climbing experience with the wonderful feeling of being able to jump into the water afterward. Climbing next to a lake is also featured in the official Carinthia regional information as an adventure. For sporty children (and parents 😉), via ferratas are fantastic: secured along rock faces, with views that reward every step. If you want to try this, it's important to use the right equipment and be honest about your comfort level with heights; then it becomes a highlight instead of a struggle.
